The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists continues it program to let pharmacists know that the Environmental Protection Agency is increasing its efforts to verify that hospitals are properly disposing of their pharmaceutical waste. An article in the March 15th, 2008 issue of Health-System Pharmacy News describes one hospital's first-hand experience in working with the EPA to address this issue. For additional information, refer to the actual article at EPA Inspections of Drug Disposal Practices Can Be a Learning Moment.
PharmEcology Associates welcomes the increased attention to this issue and is proud to be mentioned in the article as a resource hospitals can work with to review their processes for managing pharmaceutical waste.
