July 19, 2004 – The EPA and the States Continue Hospital Hazardous Waste Enforcement Efforts

EPA cited Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY, $73,562 for hazardous waste violations including improper disposal of chemotherapy drugs in June, 2004. The action is posted on EPA's Region 2 news site.

The State of Minnesota Pollution Control Agency began intensive inspections in early summer and has issued a number of notices of violation. The hospital then has 60 days to correct the violation before further action is taken.
